DeLonghi ecam22110sb is a wonderful little machine capable of producing excellent espresso without the fuss of a manual espresso machine.
Using the built-in frother, you can also create all your favorite coffee shop drinks like cappuccinos and lattes from the comfort of your own home – and all at the touch of a button.
This is a high-quality machine from a reputable brand with many years of experience in making home coffee machines.
The Magnifica is a little more expensive than some models on the market, but we believe the price is justified and represents great value for money.
Ease of use
One of the big advantages of this machine is how easy it is to operate. You can brew high-quality espresso and make other espresso-based drinks at the touch of a single button.
The machine comes with a 2-year warranty. Unless you are unlucky, if you take good care of it, the machine should last a lot longer than that.

Here’s our full DeLonghi ECAM22110SB Review (also known as the DeLonghi Magnifica).
Things to consider before buying DeLonghi Magnifica ECAM22110SB
The coffee machine market is awash with such a bewildering array of machines and choosing the right one can be something of a challenge.
On the one hand, there are machines like Keurigs or Nespressos which offer the ease and convenience of brewing with pods, while on the other, there are coffee shop-style espresso machines which can be expensive – and often take skill and practice to operate well.
Somewhere in the middle are machines like the DeLonghi Magnifica. Although it doesn’t use pods, it is “super-automatic”, meaning you only have to add the beans or ground coffee and press a button – and the machine takes care of the rest.
If you are looking for the utmost in speed and convenience, a pod-based machine is hard to beat, while if you want full control over every step in the brewing process, you might be better off choosing a manual espresso machine.
However, if you just want top-quality coffee at home and you value the flexibility of brewing with beans or grinds – as well as the lower price compared to pods – a machine like the DeLonghi Magnifica could be a wise investment.
DeLonghi ECAM22110SB review
The DeLonghi Magnifica is designed as a complete home espresso brewing system.
Pulling top-quality espressos on a traditional espresso machine is a skill that takes a lot of practice to master – but with the DeLonghi, the process is simplified to the touch of a single button.
The machine is programmable, meaning you can save your own personalized settings for how you like your espresso, and once you have saved your temperature, strength and size preferences, the Magnifica will pour you a perfect cup of coffee every time.
If you enjoy other espresso-based drinks such as cappuccinos, lattes and macchiatos, the Magnifica’s built-in frother will allow you to create all your favorite coffee shop-style beverages with ease, all from the comfort of your own home.
This machine features a stylish, compact design and will take up less space than many larger traditional espresso machines. It is simple to operate with intuitive one-touch controls and is easy to clean and maintain, meaning you will be pouring coffees with this machine for many years to come.
Features and benefits of deLonghi ECAM22110SB
Now let’s look in more detail at all the features and benefits of the Keurig 2.0 K200.
Brews top-quality espresso at the touch of a button
The most important question is, does it serve good espresso? The answer is, yes it does. The machine produces top-quality coffee with a rich aroma and thick crema at the touch of a button.
You can use it to brew simple espressos or for making other espresso-based drinks like cappuccinos and lattes just like in your favorite coffee shop – except using this machine, it’s much easier than doing it all yourself like a coffee shop barista.
Auto bean-to-cup system
This machine is super-automatic, meaning all you need to do is add the coffee, choose your settings and press “go”. There is no need to grind beans or anything else separately, the machine does everything for you.
Works with beans or pre-ground coffee
The Magnifica features two separate coffee chambers: one for beans and one for grounds. This means you can use either, depending on what you prefer or have to hand.
“Silent” burr grinder
While calling the grinder “silent” is a bit of a stretch, it’s certainly very quiet. It is a burr grinder, ensuring a uniform grind of coffee, aiding the brewing process and delivering a consistently extracted espresso.
The unit includes an easy-to-operate manual frother, allowing you to create high-quality coffee shop-style beverages like cappuccinos, lattes and macchiatos.
The controls are laid out in an uncluttered way and are easy to understand and use. Most of the controls are push button, with one-touch drink selection and a dial to select coffee strength.
Customizable drinks settings
The machine includes five strength settings and two sizes of espresso (corresponding with regular and lungo). You can also customize the intensity and temperature of your drink.
Once you program in your preferences, the machine remembers, meaning the next time you want a coffee, it will be ready even faster.
The Magnifica brewing system ensures that your espresso is always brewed with consistent temperature, richness and density every time.
Rapid Cappuccino System
The unit’s Rapid Cappuccino System means there is no wait time in between pouring drinks: you can pull off as many as you require in quick succession.
This unit packs in many of the design features of larger machines in a more compact format. The unit measure only 17” x 9.4” x 13.8” and weighs in at 19.84lbs, making it suitable for even smaller kitchens.
Energy saver function
The energy saver switch means the unit consumes less power when not in use. This can lead to a reduction of up to 77% of electricity consumed.
The water reservoir has a 60oz volume and is fully removable for ease of refilling.
Water filter included
The unit features a built-in water filter. Since espresso is only as good as the quality of the ingredients you use – the coffee and the water – the Magnifica ensures a superior beverage by filtering the water.
Easy to clean
This machine has been designed for ease of maintenance. The parts that need cleaning are easily accessible, the reservoir is removable, as are the brewing parts, and the unit also features several cleaning programs to help keep it in perfect working order.
DeLonghi ECAM22110SB Alternatives
#1 DeLonghi ECAM22110SB Vs Nespresso Inissia
If you are an espresso lover, another option would be a Nespresso machine, for example, the Inissia (also made by DeLonghi).
Nespresso machines are the Keurigs of the espresso world. They work with pods and brew true espresso by passing water through the pod at high pressure, resulting in a coffee shop-style beverage with a rich crema.
The advantage of using a Nespresso machine, as with all pod-based machines, is convenience. While the Magnifica is easy to use, a Nespresso is even easier – you just pop in the pod of your choice, hit “brew” and wait for your coffee to be served.
The disadvantage of using a pod-based system is that you are limited to only using coffee available in pods. This means you can’t use regular beans or pre-ground coffee. The pods are also generally more expensive than buying regular coffee beans or grinds.
One particular “disadvantage” associated with Nespresso is that Nespresso pods are not sold in regular stores, so if you don’t have a Nespresso boutique near you, you will have to order online from their dedicated site. However, the service is highly efficient, so this is not such a problem.
The other disadvantage with a Nespresso machine is that it only makes espresso. There is no frother for making cappuccinos and lattes, so if you want more variety, you might be better choosing a different brewing system.
#2 DeLonghi ECAM22110SB Vs Breville BES980XL
If you are looking for a top-end machine, you might also consider something like the Breville BES980XL Oracle Espresso Machine. This is a beautiful coffee machine for the true aficionado who wants the best espresso at home with the convenience of a one-touch system.
Essentially, this machine does everything the DeLonghi can – and more. You can customize size, temperature and strength so you can make espressos just the way you like them, and there is also a one-touch Americano setting, something the DeLonghi lacks.
The Breville Oracle features a double boiler system and, significantly, includes a pre-infusion feature that ensures espresso is extracted in the most uniform way possible. This kind of feature is not found in cheaper brewing systems and produces something very close to professional-grade espresso.
The Oracle also includes a frother with programmable hands-free milk texturing for perfect coffee shop-standard cappuccinos and lattes.
Clearly, the main issue here is the price. The Oracle costs more than twice as much as the Magnifica and many people would baulk at the idea of investing so much in an espresso machine.
While the Oracle simply does more than the Magnifica and also probably makes better coffee, you may need to decide whether it is worth paying the considerably higher price for the admittedly better quality of beverage and the extra functionality.
The Oracle is also the bigger machine of the two, so if you have a smaller kitchen, the Magnifica might be a better pick.
#3 DeLonghi ECAM22110SB Vs Aicook Espresso Machine
At the very other end of the scale are budget espresso machines like this one from Aicook. It brews espresso under pressure and also features a built-in steam wand for frothing milk to create other coffee shop-style drinks like cappuccinos and lattes.
It is a very simple machine, and it is easy to disassemble the parts for cleaning. It is supplied with a glass carafe for making up to four cups of espresso at a time.
Since this is a budget machine, you need to understand that it has certain limitations. Although it brews espresso under pressure, the pressure it reaches is only 3.5 bar – much less than in professional-grade machines or more expensive models like the Magnifica or the Oracle.
This means that although this machine makes true espresso, you shouldn’t expect a coffee shop-standard drink with a thick and full crema. It is capable of producing only an inferior approximation of a coffee shop espresso, and at this price that is all it is reasonable to expect.
If you are an espresso connoisseur and want a great tasting drink at home, you would be better off looking at more expensive models. If you want a budget machine for occasional use, something like the Aicook could be a suitable option.
We have enjoyed researching and writing this DeLonghi ECAM22.110 SB review for you. Although there are certainly better models available, they can cost a lot more than the Magnifica.
If you are looking for a top quality mid-range super-automatic home espresso system, you could do a lot worse than this machine. At this price point, the Magnifica represents excellent value for money and allows you to brew delicious espresso with no fuss – just with the touch of one button.
