As you can see, the Keurig 2.0 250 has plenty of features, some more exciting than others. Some of the most convenient and cherished features include the settings, variety and design.

Among the pool of coffee lovers, there are those who just need a light pick me up (and may rely much more on sugar than caffeine) and the go hard or go home connoisseurs who delight in a strong, dark cup of joe.

The brew settings are no respecter of persons, whether you're in the mood for a light brew for an afternoon boost or a strong brew to pull you out of slumber. Many highly sensitive individuals who can run off of one cup for 2 days would definitely find this helpful.

This version also includes a high altitude for those who live at least 5,000 ft above sea level. It works by decreasing the temperature of the coffee to accommodate the lower temperatures that occur at high altitudes with just a tap on the touch screen. It's impressive to see this setting on such an affordable brewer.

The Keurig 2.0 K250 brings variety to your home. You have to admit that not everyone runs to the Keurig 2.0 K250 for coffee. So for another cool setting, you can pop in a hot chocolate K-cup, perfect for staying nice and toasty on a cold night. If that's not enough, you can even brew a K-cup of chicken noodle soup.

This brewer comes with aesthetic variety as well, from imperial red to turquoise or peacock blue, and the list goes on.

If you have an aversion for cramped kitchen counters, this one's much slimmer than the average coffee brewer. It makes you realize that less is more, especially if your kitchen gets heavy traffic.

Techniques, Tips and Tricks

One of the most inconvenient encounters Keurig 2.0 K250 users have is the dreaded digital rights management phenomenon. If you're someone who just happens to enjoy any coffee not manufactured by Keurig, and you use a refillable K-cup, you may run into this issue.

You can by-pass this issue by purchasing something called a freedom clip. It's an inexpensive hack that gives you the flexibility to brew more coffee varieties.

Additionally, it's a good idea to invest in the carafe cup if you get tired of combining sizes just to fill your mug. For example, a 16 oz mug requires you to brew one 10 oz cup and 6 oz cup. But the carafe lets you brew 22,26 or 30 oz cups.

Comparisons to Similar Products

Since the Keurig 2.0 k250 was discontinued (although they are still available for sale at some vendor locations), there are a few budget-friendly, similar brands to consider.

First up is the Keurig K55. It looks almost the same, but it's better suited for the minimalist drinker. This machine doesn't come with a K-Carafe or K-Mug pod. You simply pour in the water for a cup, as opposed to having a few ounces already stored in the reservoir. It does have an indicator so that you can follow the brewing process and automatically powers off after 90 seconds. It has button controls instead of a touch screen.

You may be interested in the almost identical Keurig 2.0 K200. There's no concern about whether the coffee will taste the same, since both models are pretty much identical on the inside.

In fact, almost everything is identical except for a few things. The K250 actually comes with an additional charcoal filter, the descaling solution, and sample K-Cup pods while the K200 does not.

Another similar model is the Keurig K475. For just a few more budgets, you get all the features of the K250 and some. It has a water handle, and the reservoir holds 70 oz of water. That means a lot less refilling.

Instead of a plain black and white, it has a larger, (2.4’’) color touchscreen. There are a lot more settings, including those that come with the K250. You can set the language to either English, French or Spanish. Furthermore, you have the ability to adjust the temperature yourself with the temperature control feature. Other options include K-Carafe auto-brew, auto on and off, a digital clock and energy save mode.

Also just a few budgets more, the K575 has all the K-475 inclusions with some extras. It lets you have instant hot water in addition to saving your favorites.
